Description
Precillium by Taylor O’Sullivan captures a cluster of king oyster mushrooms discovered in the Balkan Alps. The image focuses on structure and form, drawing attention to the layered gills and subtle tonal shifts that give the composition its depth.
The photograph was made after several hours of hiking through the mountains without finding a single mushroom. Near the end of the day, O’Sullivan came across this cluster growing along a fallen log, fully intact and undisturbed. The scene was not styled or moved. The mushrooms were photographed exactly as they were found, using the existing light and conditions.
The composition is built around that moment of discovery. The framing isolates the structure of the mushrooms, allowing their form, texture, and natural symmetry to carry the image.
