For Fun Friday // The Updated Staircase
You have been working so hard to update and modernize your look and everything is looking so good. But there is something that doesn’t quite fit, something that doesn’t look quite right. Then, out of the corner of your eye, you see it, your old oak staircase. How can something that is one of the focal points of your home not have caught your eye before?! And now, it’s all you see, how can you change it? We are here to help! Below we have outlined a few easy changes you can make to both update and modernize your staircase that will give your home a fresh new look.
Remove the Carpet:
This creates a very clean look. If desired, you can add a stair runner to add some warmth and character. There are so many great options out there. Make sure that the one you choose is durable. The stairs are a high traffic area so you want to find a carpet that can handle the wear and tear.
Paint or Stain the Wood
Paint is a amazing thing it can make all the difference. It is one of the easiest ways to transform your stairs and bring them up to date. When you do choose this option keep in mind that this will require touch-ups every so often. If you have stairs that are already dark and you want to keep them that way it will usually take one to two coats of paint.
Change out the balusters (stair spindles) & hand rails:
The more updated, modern staircases are more streamlined. Replacing the balusters with new material will change the entire look of your stairs. Selection ranges from wood, steel, iron, glass & cables
