Have you been asking yourself, “Can I mix metals?” and if so, how?  Well the answer is a resounding YES! It can be done and the best part is, it’s not as difficult as you think. Combining metals can give you a clean, finished look with a lot of character.  Here are a few tips to make you feel more at ease creating this effect and to help you master this timeless look.

FIRST TIP

First tip, choose your dominant metal, then add in smaller accents of another metal.

SECOND TIP

Second, and we think the most important tip, stick to mixing 2 to 3 metals. Adding anymore than that can begin to look a little too mismatched. The end result should be a balanced look.

THIRD TIP

Third tip, blend warm and cool tones. For example, warmer tones are gold and brass while cooler tones are silver and chrome. If you think your room is looking a little to warm, try throwing in some silver. And alternately, if you think your room is looking a little too cold put in some brass or gold to warm it up.

FOURTH TIP

Fourth tip, black accents. We think the reason why Sherwin Williams has a paint color called “Black Magic” is because it is magic! You cannot go wrong with adding black accents into your room. Black is a color that pairs well with almost anything!

FIFTH TIP

Our last and final tip, play around with different metals. Don’t be intimidated by this new look; take it slowly and build upon it. You are going to be so proud that you stepped out of your comfort zone and discovered how well metals can mix together.
